01 · What It Is

What is Preventive Dentistry For Kids?

Preventive dentistry is the everyday care that stops cavities and gum problems before they start professional cleanings, regular exams, fluoride, sealants, and coaching on brushing and diet at home.

It matters most in childhood: baby teeth hold space for adult teeth, decay spreads quickly in young enamel, and the habits and feelings about the dentist that a child forms now tend to last for life. A steady rhythm of visits is the difference between a quick polish and a filling.

02 · Meet the Doctor

“The Best Appointment Is The Boring One A Quick Cleaning, A High Five, And Nothing To Fix.”

Dr. Jess completed her pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, with clinical training at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. With deep roots in Texas, she opened Texoma Pediatric Dentistry to bring that standard of care home to Sherman.

07 · Common Questions

Good Questions, Straight Answers

Still unsure about something? Call us happy to talk it through.

By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short and mostly about comfort, a quick look, and coaching for parents.

Every six months for most kids. If your child is at higher cavity risk, Dr. Jess may suggest every three to four months for a while we'll always explain why.

Yes. We use digital sensors with a very low dose, protective shielding, and only take images when they'll actually change a diagnosis or plan never on a fixed routine.

Sealants are one of the most effective ways to prevent cavities on molars. We recommend them as permanent molars come in, but it's always your call.

Tell us ahead of time and we'll plan for it a pre-visit tour, the first or last slot of the day, dimmed lights, headphones, a weighted blanket, and as many breaks as it takes.

We accept most major plans and file the claims for you. Bring your card to the first visit and our team will verify benefits and give you a clear estimate up front.
